Meet Scovia
“Remember, even in life's darkest moments, God is there turning pain into hope. There's always a light at the end of the tunnel.”
My life's been a journey from pain to hope, transformed by God into a source of strength. No matter how tough things get, there's always a glimmer of hope.
I'm Scovia Mansuk, married to Milton with two amazing boys — Jesse, a five-year-old, and Jeremy, who's turning three soon. Some of my favorite things include reading, cooking up local African dishes, and watching movies, especially cartoons. And I can't forget my love for pizza, chocolate, or pumpkin cake for dessert — that's a perfect meal for me.
But there's more to my heart — a fierce passion for women and girls facing the harsh aftermath of war and conflict. You see, I was born in Uganda as a refugee. My childhood was tough, marked by loss, pain, and trauma, especially losing my dad. As a refugee, life felt like a constant battle.
But then came a turning point — an encounter with Jesus that brought me peace, hope, and healing. With support from family and my church community, I pursued education, graduated, and cared for my mother. We returned to South Sudan with hopes, but conflicts forced us to flee again — back to the refugee life.
Yet, amidst adversity, hope never left me. I was determined to make the most of our situation. Today, my story stands as a beacon of hope for those who've faced similar trials. God turned my pain into compassion for women and girls enduring hardships. My mission now? Empower and uplift these strong souls into leaders, and agents of change in their families and communities. My story's woven with faith and strength, a testament to the human spirit's power and grace.
John 15:16 is my anchor, a reminder that even in the darkest times, there's a path to healing and transformation.
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
—John 15:16
